If you have low vision, falls can be common. The reduction in peripheral vision, having distracting flashes of light, or just big blocks of absence in your sight altogether can block out hazards and increase the risk of falls.
Invest in good lighting
When it's dark or you have reduced vision, it's far easier to trip over objects and fall. Bright lighting can minimise the risk of this happening. See our lighting range for low vision here.

It has a low heat shade, clear on/off switches and an anti-trip cable holder as well as sturdy base to prevent toppling.

Pave out your routes
Use contrasting tape colours to outline the edge of your flooring to help you see where one wall starts and another stops.
Reduce clutter
Minimise the risks of tripping by keeping as little as possible on the floor as possible. Leave handbags on tables, shoes in a shoe rack and umbrellas in an umbrella stand to make getting around the house safer.
Keep distractions at bay
When mobile, do not look at your phone or listen to music - keeping all of your senses fully active will help you to concentrate on moving around safely.
