Retail and VAT exempt customers

UK Customers

• There is no delivery charge for standard UK Consumer Retail orders which are shipped through the Articles for the Blind Scheme. 
• Electronic Magnifiers are shipped by courier to include insurance and signed for delivery. The charge for this is £10.00+VAT for small items and £20.00+VAT for large items. 
• Where an Electronic Magnifier is demonstrated and delivered there will be no delivery charge.

Overseas Customers

• For small items delivery charge is free if the item weighs less than 7kg and is shipped through the International Articles for the Blind Scheme.

VAT Exemption

Whether you are eligible for VAT exemption will be determined by the regulations from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
HMRC states that “Customers with a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon their ability to carry out everyday activities” will be eligible for zero-rated VAT providing that the goods are for their personal or domestic use and the goods and services are eligible to be supplied at the zero rate. Low vision aids are included in the outline given under:

• Spectacle mounted low vision aids which are custom made to the prescription of a qualified optician where the prescription identifies the appliance as a low vision aid
• Other low vision aids including technical aids for reading and writing, which are designed exclusively for visually impaired people, for example, closed circuit video magnification equipment capable of magnifying text and images.

Please complete the VAT Relief form and return by post or email if you are eligible for zero-rated VAT. If you are in any doubt as to whether you are eligible to receive goods or services zero-rated for VAT you should consult Notice 701/7 VAT reliefs for disabled people available from HMRC or contact their National Advice Service on 0845 010 9000 before signing the declaration.

Trade Orders

UK Customers – Standard Delivery

Trade orders have a standard delivery charge for UK orders to cover postage and packing as follows:

Up to 750g           £3.25+VAT

750g-1250g         £4.99+VAT

1250g to 2kg       £7.49+VAT

Over 2kg              £10.00+VAT

Small Electronic Magnifiers   £10.00+VAT

Large Electronic Magnifiers   £20.00+VAT

Lighting                                  £10.00+VAT

UK Customers – Articles for the Blind

• There is no delivery charge for eligible Trade, Hospital and Optician orders which are shipped through the Articles for the Blind Scheme.  Eligible organisations are those representing blind people or providing a service designed for blind/visually impaired individuals.  Eligible organisations should select Articles for the Blind at Checkout.
• Electronic Magnifiers are shipped by courier to include insurance and signed for delivery. The charge for this is £10.00+VAT for small items and £20.00+VAT for large items. 

Overseas Customers
