• Which low vision aids are helpful for Glaucoma?

For early stage Glaucoma, Low Powered Hand-held Magnifiers, Stand Magnifiers, Dome and Bar Magnifiers, Spectacle-mounted Magnifiers and Electronic Magnifiers used with good lighting can be helpful.  For recommendations for more specific tasks see the sections on near and distance tasks above.

 

For Advanced Glaucoma low powered versions of Hand-held Magnifiers, Stand Magnifiers, Near vision Telescopes and Spectacle-Mounted Magnifiers can be helpful.  High powered would not be as good as they may magnify into the areas of peripheral sight loss. Binoculars may help to improve distance vision, although in the later stages of visual field restriction and tunnel vision, a field expander may be beneficial, and CCTV  Electronic Magnifiers can be helpful as the magnification power can be varied.
